So we have reached the end of the dig. The last planning was completed today and we had a drone on site to complete a photogrammetrical survey from the air. This will give us a set of perfectly vertical overlapping pictures so we have a complete image of the site tied in via GPS so it can be linked precisely to the map.
We are now moving into the post-excavation phase and the start of the community activities that will be part of the project over the next 18 months. We were delighted to welcome the Lyminge Art Group who came along and spent a productive few hours seeking inspiration in the churchyard.
If you have ideas for activities that you think could be part of our programme, do get in touch.
Don’t forget that Gabor Thomas will be giving a presentation on the dig in the church on Saturday. We will have drinks and nibbles available from 6.30. The talk will be at 7pm. Please come along and show your support for the project. We look forward to seeing you there. It should be a popular event!
