Shortlisted success for the Ethelburga Quilt!

The Ethelburga Quilt was proving popular at the international Festival of Quilts at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham yesterday. The little girl in the picture above was hugely engaged with the different images on the quilt, and spent a long time counting the different iterations of each piece of metalwork.

We were delighted that against stiff competition, our quilt was shortlisted for a prize, which is a huge achievement and a great compliment to Liz Coleman who put in all the hard work masterminding the creation of the quilt, and also to the members of Ethelburga Quilters and the other members of our community who made it.

The Festival of Quilts is continuing today and tomorrow at the NEC. Social distancing is keeping the usual crowds down, but there is still plenty to see and buy if you are interested in textile art. The Ethelburga Quilt will be back in the church in Lyminge soon, after its brief holiday in Birmingham, and you can come and see it for yourself. Remember that it is also part of the Folkestone Festival Fringe until November, and it is a permanent part of our new art installation Pathways.
